Dursley was an inspiration for the character Ritchie Tozer in the Channel 4 drama,\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eIt’s a Sin\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe second section explores the dark depths of homophobia in the six years prior to the partial legalisation of sex between men in 1992 and dubious police practices of the time pays, as well as paying tribute to the activism of prominent gay rights campaigner Alan Shea.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThirdly, Maddrell recognises the government and police apologies for the laws and tragic consequences of their zealous pursuit, emphasised by the Isle of Man’s very own\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eHeartstopper\u003c\/em\u003e, Joe Locke, at the second public Pride in 2022.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eIsle of Sin\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003ewas featured in the Poetry Book Society Selection for Summer 2023.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSimon Maddrell is a queer Manx poet living in Brighton and Hove.
